CATHERINE KEDDIE
Executive and team coach. Leadership development consultant. Former senior business leader. Creator of EDGE DYNAMICS™ and THE LEADERS EDGE™.
I understand what it takes to lead. And what it costs.
I am Catherine Keddie. I work with experienced leaders, CEOs, founders and leadership teams operating under growth, complexity and change, who want leadership and results to evolve together without it costing them so much of themselves, their people, their culture or their ambition.
That last part matters to me personally. Because I know exactly what that cost feels like.
My journey from scientist to business leader to executive coach.
I trained as a biochemist before moving into the fast-paced, high-stakes world of healthcare communications, where I spent more than 20 years building and leading businesses, teams and cultures.
I worked at board level, grew teams from 12 to 55 people and revenue from £2m to £10m, and won and led the largest assignment in my agency's history - a multi-million dollar global healthcare programme that played a critical role during COVID.
I know what it means to lead when the pace is relentless, decisions carry real weight and the responsibility for people and results sits with you.
I have lived at The Edge. And I have fallen off it.
For most of my career I thrived at The Edge. I loved the stretch, the growth, the challenge. I was continuously learning, adapting and pushing forward. I never stood still and I did not want to.
But when the pressure became too much for too long, with what felt like no way out, I fell off my own Edge. My human capacity could no longer calibrate the demands I was under. My leadership capability was not enough to keep me pushing through. And for the first time in my career, I stopped.
I took time out. I did the work I now help others to do. I built the self-awareness, the human capacity and the new ways of thinking and leading that allowed me to come back. Not just recovered. Transformed.
That experience is why I do this work. Not because I want others to reach that point. But because I know it does not have to come to that. I want to help leaders do this work proactively, before the crisis and not because of it. So that growth becomes something they design rather than something that happens to them. So that success feels as good on the inside as it looks on the outside.
How I work.
My coaching is shaped by that journey as much as by my training and expertise. I combine lived experience of leadership under pressure with disciplined, evidence-based practice at the intersection of leadership development and human performance.
I trained at Henley Business School, hold a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching and am an active member of the International Coaching Federation. I am certified in the Leadership Circle Profile™, Creating the Team Edge™, Emotions Coaching and Team and Group Coaching. Frameworks designed for real leadership environments, not idealised ones.
Clients often tell me the work feels both supportive and challenging. A space to think clearly, tell the truth and make decisions that align who they are with how they lead and live.
What I believe.
We can evolve and be successful. And we deserve to do it in ways that do not quietly cost us our health, clarity or sense of self.
Leadership does not have to be endlessly effortful. Growth does not have to come at the expense of the people delivering it. And change does not require a crisis to be meaningful.
A final word.
If you are carrying responsibility, delivering results and sensing that something needs to shift, not because you are failing, but because you are growing, I would be glad to talk.
My work sits at the intersection of leadership development and human performance, combining lived experience of leading under the increasing demands of growth and complexity with disciplined, evidence-based practice.
